The re-election of Nana Akufo Addo, has raised violence between the NPP and NDC to re-elect John Dramani Mahama

More than 60 violent cases have been recorded by the Ghana Police Service during Ghana's 2020 election on December 7, 2020.
The sitting President and also the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, ran for re-election against his main rival party, the National Democratic Congress, NDC, led by John Dramani Mahama as well as 10 other candidates.
According to the Police, the violence which has been occurring since Monday 7th December has caused the demise of five people so far with others being injured.

This started from Tuesday after Mahama claimed to have grabbed the majority of the parliamentary seat and warns Akuffo-Addo against stealing votes, tension started rising.
The NPP government claimed that Mahama's charge on Akuffo Addo making use of the military in an offer to sway the outcome is false and should not be taking into consideration.
"You cannot use the military to try and overturn some of the results in constituencies we have won. we will resist any attempts to subvert the sovereign will of the Ghanaian people,"-Mahama said.
For about 30years ago since the return of democracy, there have been seven peaceful transitions of power, as post-electoral pleas have been pursued through court until now. the outcome is still yet to be known.
