Samuel Adu Frimpong popularly known as Medikal is a Ghanaian hip-hop musician from Sowutuom a suburb in Accra, Ghana. He was born to Portia Lamptey and James Frimpong, Medikal was signed by Criss Waddle, owner of Arab Money Gang (AMG) in 2010.
Medikal was fascinated with rapping at a very young age with interest in rapping about doctors , surgeons, medical practitioners, and hospitals in general hence the name 'Medikal', The Ghanaian musician referred to his raps as ‘sick’ not because they were unhealthy but are very creative and very good. also stated that the name Medikal was given to him in junior High by his school father.
Fella Makafui's Husband stated that he is inspired by Sarkodie Criss Waddle, Pae Dae, and Yaa Pono as well as internationally by Lil Wayne and Skepta. A number of songs have been released by Medikal including ‘Forever my love ‘ featuring Bisa Kdei,‘ Per Kakra’ featuring Criss Waddle,‘ Confirm and Confirm remix ‘ featuring Sarkodie among many others. He attended his high school at Odorgonno Senior HIgh.
He is passionate about what he does as it is something he wants to use to inspire the youth to achieve what they want. Medikal has made a name for himself in the music industry through his hard work and numerous collaboration with successful artists. He was one of the highest nominated artists alongside Sarkodie in the 2017 Ghana Music Awards. He also won the 2018 IARA best African music artist. Apart from his nominations in 2017, he won the best discovery video in the MTN 4Syte Music Video Awards in 2016.
Medikal got married to Precious Fella Makafui on March 7, 2020. The couple has their first child 'Islan Frimpong'.
