Six individuals have been fined for going against the rules, set by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19.
They were arrested on the 18th of April at the first junction in Teshie, after a birthday party. According to the reports given, they escaped the scene after the arrival of the police but were being chased and arrested.
Because this violates the ban enforced by the president on all social gatherings, they were fined a total amount of GH¢86,400 in Accra Circuit court ruled by Ms Afia Owusua Appiah.
Each convict was fined with an amount of GH¢14,400 and to also serve five years each in prison. The convicts includes Elliot Sharker, Precious Aboy-Iyen,Amadi Mine, Marshal Oviegjare, Godsway Fejiro, and David Amos.
They pleaded guilty for not complying with ACT 1012 and failure to adhere to the restrictions imposed by the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012).
