Eight new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the district of Lower Manya Krobo, located in the Eastern Region.. This has brought the total number of confirmed cases in the Eastern Region to 28. 

Previously recorded cases was only one, which involved an Indian expatriate working with the Afcon construction company building the Tema-Akosombo rail project.

According to the Municipal Health Director, they are waiting for more results from the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research where the samples had been sent for testing.

Eastern Region now has the  third-highest number of confirmed cases of the novel COVID-19, after Greater Accra and Ashanti regions.

As of Thursday night, the national case count announced by President of Ghana in his national address was 378  with six deaths and four recoveries.

So far eight of the country’s 16 regions have recorded at least a case of the deadly infection.

These are Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern and Central regions. The rest are Upper East, Upper West, Eastern and North East regions.
