As of 24th March, 2020, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ghana has hit a total of 52. This was revealed by the Health Minister of Ghana " Kwaku Agyeman Manu" at a press conference in Accra.
He stated that, the increment in the confirmed cases of COVID-19, is as a result of the 1,030 travellers that were quarantined after they entered the country, from sunday.
According to him, out of that number, samples of 611 were taken for laboratory investigations. The completed test of 185 of the travellers, divulged that, 25 of them were positive.
The Information Minister," Kojo Oppong Nkrumah", further stated that, testing is still ongoing for all the travellers who have been quarantined, meaning that, the number of confirmed cases, could rise.
The president of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in a live telecast , said that, all of Ghana's borders, air , sea and land are closed in order to curb the importation of the deadly disease, into the country.
The quarantine is part of directives from the Jubilee House on Sunday.
