The confirmed cases of CONVID 19 is increasing each day, as the government has put in place measures the limit the spread of this deadly disease. Various institutions and other schools, have been ordered to vacate the school premises, to their various homes, till further notice.
There have been presidential directive against social gatherings such church services, funerals and political rallies.
Despite the measures put in place, the number of cases recorded, keeps increasing everyday and for the first time, local transmission of the disease have been recorded.
On this day, dated 20th March, 2020, 5 new cases of CONVID 19, have been recorded rising Ghana's confirmed cases from 11 to 16.
The first case is 29 years old lady, a resident of Accra, who tested positive after her blood sample was taken for laboratory investigation.
The second case involves a 34 years old ghanaian lady, who resides in Accra, and contact of a confirmed case at workplace.Her blood sample was taken for laboratory investigations and it also tested positive.
The third case recorded involves a 53-year-old Ghanaian male, resident of Tema; no history of travel, no evidence of close contact with confirmed case; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.
The fourth confirmed case is a 41-year-old Ghanaian male who arrived in Ghana, by KLM on the 15 March 2020. He indicated exposure with family members in Amsterdam exhibiting respiratory symptoms and also on the flight with some passengers sneezing and coughing. His sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.
The fifth case is a 36-year-old Ghanaian male; resident of Paris, France. The date of his arrival in Ghana unconfirmed and there is no evidence of contact with infected person.
Among the 5 cases, 3 of them are local transmission cases of CONVID 19 and the remaining 2 are imported cases of CONVID 19.
So far, no death case of coronavirus has been recorded in ghana. Infected persons are being managed in isolation and are responding to treatment.
