The Ghana Health Service has recorded three new cases of COVID-19 with second death of one of the victims. Details of the second person, who died from this deadly disease, is yet to be revealed.
These cases recorded, has caused an increment in the COVID-19 cases of Ghana, from 24 to 27. According to the statement, released by the Ghana Health Service, on their website on the 23rd March, 2020, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, tested 521 suspected cases for COVID-19.
25 active cases and 2 death cases have been confirmed so far, out of the suspected cases. The 25 active cases are however, managed in isolation and are responding to treatment.
It was stated that, 20 confirmed cases from the 27, are of ghanaian nationality and the remaining 7, are of other nationalities, that is, Norway, Lebanon,China , France and UK.
In respect of contact tracing, it was stated that 598 contacts have been identified and are being tracked and also, one of them which developed the symptoms, has been confirmed positive.
19 people have completed the 14 days of mandatory follow up.
